Visit Tidio →Ecommerce support is unusual in that a majority of the volume is answerable from structured data. Where is my order, can I change the address, why was I charged twice, how do I return this — these aren't judgment calls, they're queries against Shopify plus a carrier API plus a returns policy. A generic helpdesk treats them as free-text tickets that a human reads and answers. A Shopify-native helpdesk treats them as data lookups it can resolve automatically. That gap is the entire reason this category exists, and it's why we scored Shopify data depth above almost everything else.
The second criterion was write access. Reading order data saves an agent a tab switch; taking action — refund, cancel, reship, edit address — saves the whole workflow. Every pick here can do more than read, but the depth varies: some handle refunds and cancellations only, others support order editing, subscription changes, and draft order creation. Map the actions against your actual top ticket reasons rather than a feature checklist.
Third, we looked at where the conversation happens. Shopify support isn't only email. It's live chat on the product page while someone is deciding, Instagram and Facebook DMs, WhatsApp in a lot of markets, and SMS. A desk that handles email beautifully but forces you into a second tool for social DMs fragments the customer history that made the Shopify integration valuable in the first place.
