Zendesk has introduced the Open Service Directory, a draft specification and public directory. It helps personal AI assistants find a brand's verified support channel and connect to it.
Brands opt in through their service provider. Listings are checked against the brand's own domain and screened for impersonation. Any brand on Zendesk or another service platform can be listed.
Assistants connect within the brand's authentication, authorization and service policies. The directory does not access private customer data or perform support actions. It extends the Agentic Resource Discovery specification.
Seven launch partners are helping shape it: Betterment, ElevenLabs, Flex, TeamSystem, TBAuctions, Telekom Payment S.A. and Wireless Logic. Zendesk says it is compatible with ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, among others. According to Futurum, the directory has no pricing or general availability date.
