Clay has launched auto-mode for Claygent, which picks the AI model for each row of research. The company says it balances answer quality and cost. Auto-mode is on by default for new Claygent columns.
Clay says auto-mode costs 47% less than sending every task to the most capable model. It takes under 1 second to choose a model for each research task. Users can still select a specific model at any time.
Clay post-trained an open-weight model with Applied Compute to handle the routing. That model runs on Applied Compute's AC2 platform and handles hundreds of millions of queries a month.
