Attio and LinkedIn: Adding People Without Leaving the Profile
A browser extension that turns a LinkedIn profile into an Attio record in one click. Small in scope, and it removes the single most tedious step in building a prospect list.
- Connector

- Extension available to Attio users; enrichment depth depends on plan
| What | Direction | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Person capture | LinkedIn → Attio | Name, headline, role and current company from the profile, creating or matching an Attio person record. |
| Company capture | LinkedIn → Attio | A company page becomes an Attio company, with Attio's own domain-based enrichment filling in the rest. |
| Existing record detection | Attio → LinkedIn | The extension shows whether the person is already in your workspace, and who owns the relationship — which prevents two reps prospecting the same person. |
| List addition | LinkedIn → Attio | Add the captured person straight onto a list, so a prospecting session produces a working pipeline rather than loose records. |
| Attribute entry | LinkedIn → Attio | Set attributes at capture time from the extension, so qualification notes are recorded while you are looking at the profile. |
| Relationship context | Attio → LinkedIn | Where email sync has seen this person before, the extension surfaces that history — the warm-intro signal that makes the extension worth having open. |
Setting it up
- Install the Attio Chrome extension and sign in to the workspace you prospect from.
- Create the list you are prospecting into before you start capturing, so records land somewhere with intent rather than in the general person object.
- Decide the two or three attributes worth setting at capture time — source, segment, why-now — and set them from the extension rather than promising to tidy up later.
- Check the existing-record indicator before adding. The most valuable thing the extension tells you is that a colleague already knows this person.
- Supply or enrich email addresses for captured people, since without one Attio cannot link them to conversation history.
- Review the list at the end of each prospecting session rather than accumulating a week of unqualified captures.
Where the integration stops
- No message or connection sync. LinkedIn conversations do not flow into Attio, and nothing about your connection graph is imported.
- Capture is manual, one profile at a time. This is not a scraper and does not bulk-extract a search result page.
- LinkedIn profiles do not carry email addresses. Captured records often have no email until enrichment or a rep supplies one, which limits what Attio's matching can do with them.
- Company matching relies on resolving a domain. Companies whose LinkedIn page does not map cleanly to a website need a manual correction.
- Browser extension, so browser rules apply. Locked-down corporate browsers and non-Chromium users are out of scope.
What this actually replaces
The tab-switching loop. Find someone on LinkedIn, decide they are worth pursuing, open the CRM, search to check they are not already there, create a record, type the name and company, remember why you added them, go back to LinkedIn, repeat.
Collapsing that into one click is not glamorous, but it changes behaviour: research that would otherwise stay in a browser tab or a notes file actually reaches the CRM.
The duplicate-check is the underrated feature
Two reps prospecting the same account independently is a small, recurring embarrassment at most companies. So is cold-emailing someone your founder has been talking to for a year.
Because Attio's relationship data comes from connected mailboxes rather than manual logging, the extension can genuinely answer "does anyone here know this person" — and the answer is more often yes than people expect. Checking takes no additional effort because the indicator is already on screen.
Set attributes at capture, not later
Every prospecting workflow includes a promise to go back and qualify the records afterwards. It does not happen.
The extension lets you set attributes while you are still looking at the profile and still remember what caught your attention. Two fields is enough — where they came from and why they are relevant. A list of a hundred people with those two fields filled is usable; the same list without them is a to-do item nobody starts.
What it is not
This is a capture tool, and comparing it to a sales engagement platform is a category error. It does not run sequences, does not send connection requests, does not automate anything about LinkedIn, and deliberately so — the tools that do automate LinkedIn activity carry account-risk that a CRM vendor is not going to take on your behalf.
