| What | Direction | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Incoming and outgoing email | Gmail → NetHunt | NetHunt links emails to the matching contact, company and deal records and shows them on the record. The pages I read don't state the matching rules. |
| Manual email linking and record creation | Gmail → NetHunt | From an open email, you link it to an existing record, create a new record from it, or link it to a task. |
| Campaign and workflow emails | NetHunt → Gmail | NetHunt sends campaigns and workflow emails through your Gmail account. It can also place a copy of mail from a record in your inbox. Mass email campaigns start on Basic Plus. |
| Google Contacts | Google Contacts → NetHunt | One-way. You pick labels or all contacts, and NetHunt creates Contact records and linked Company records. It runs daily; Business Plus runs it hourly. |
| Calendar events | Two-way | You create an event from a record and it lands in Google Calendar. Events you link from Calendar appear on the record's timeline. |
| Drive files | NetHunt → Gmail | Files you drag onto a record upload to your Google Drive in the related folder. Records can also export to Google Sheets. |
| Mobile Gmail add-on | Gmail → NetHunt | In the Gmail app, you see linked records and tasks, link emails, quick-create contacts and companies, and create tasks. |
Setting it up
- Open the NetHunt CRM for Gmail page in the Chrome Web Store, click Add to Chrome, then Add extension.
- Sign in to the NetHunt web app that opens after install, and allow the Google permissions it requests.
- Open Gmail in the browser. The NetHunt icon appears in the left sidebar; refresh the page if it doesn't.
- Go to Settings, then Preferences, and choose whether the NetHunt workspace sits before or after the inbox.
- Open Settings, click Google Contacts sync, press SYNC, and choose the labels to import. Set the destination folder and field mapping in the data enrichment settings first.
- Open a record, click Connect to Google Calendar, and create a test event. Install the Gmail add-on if the team reads email on phones.
Where the integration stops
- Google Contacts sync runs one way. Contacts move from Google into NetHunt daily, or hourly on Business Plus. Edits made in NetHunt don't go back, so keep Google Contacts as the source or stop the sync.
- The desktop experience depends on a browser extension. The help article walks through the Chrome install. NetHunt's pricing page also mentions Safari and Firefox extensions. Each user installs it separately.
- The mobile add-on does less. Records created from Gmail are a quick save with no editing and no photos, and due-date options for tasks are limited. Finish the record in the NetHunt app or on desktop.
- Revoking Google access switches off everything at once. Removing NetHunt's access cuts automatic email linking, campaigns, workflow email sequences and Contacts sync. Re-sign in and allow the permissions to restore them.
- Campaigns send through Gmail, so Gmail's daily sending limits apply. NetHunt's pricing page lists custom SMTP as the way around them. The trial excludes it, and the page text doesn't show which plans include it.
- The docs don't say whether email from before install gets linked. Test with one mailbox on the trial before you promise the team a full history.
NetHunt CRM runs inside Gmail through a browser extension that NetHunt builds. It suits teams on Google Workspace that want email, deals and contacts in one view. NetHunt's Gmail integration page lists the extension on every plan, from Basic up. See NetHunt's plans for current prices.
The connector is a sidebar, not a sync between two apps. The extension adds NetHunt's navigation panel to Gmail, and email linking runs through the Google permissions each user grants. The part that surprises teams is Google Contacts: it imports one way, on a daily schedule.
Read the NetHunt vendor page for the wider product. This review covers only what moves between NetHunt and Google.
Email linking is the core, and it runs on Google permissions
NetHunt asks each user to grant access to Gmail, Calendar, Contacts and Drive. The email permission powers automatic linking of incoming and outgoing messages. It also powers manual linking, record creation from an email, and linking emails to tasks.
Sending uses the same permission. Campaigns and workflow emails go out through the user's Gmail account. Gmail's daily sending limits therefore apply, and custom SMTP is NetHunt's listed way around them.
The pages I read don't say whether NetHunt links email that predates the install. They also don't give the matching rules. Test both on the trial.
Google Contacts import once a day, in one direction
The Contacts sync copies contacts from Google into NetHunt. You choose labels or all contacts. NetHunt maps name, title, company, phone, address, website, labels and birthdate, and it creates or reuses a linked Company record.
The sync runs daily on Basic, Basic Plus and Business. Business Plus runs it hourly. Nothing flows back to Google, so changes made in NetHunt stay in NetHunt.
Calendar and Drive attach to records
Calendar works from the record. You connect Google Calendar, create an event from a deal or contact, and it appears on the record's timeline. In Calendar, you can link an existing event to a record or create a record from the event. The docs describe no automatic matching of events to records.
Drive works the same way. A file you drag onto a record uploads to your Google Drive in the related folder.
Phones get a smaller add-on
The Gmail add-on brings NetHunt into the official Gmail app. It shows linked records and tasks, links emails and creates tasks. Contacts and companies created there are a quick save with no editing and no photos. NetHunt's help center calls the desktop extension the more functional option.
