Who should leave Oracle Fusion Service
Oracle Fusion Service, formerly Oracle Service Cloud (RightNow), is Oracle's customer service application. It puts digital self-service, assisted support, field service and internal help desks in one workspace, with AI agents handling triage, routing, escalation and resolution. It shares one cloud and data model with the other Oracle Fusion Applications, which is the main reason to buy it. The catches are visibility and fit: Oracle publishes no list prices, so you cannot compare cost before a sales conversation, and the shared-data-model advantage disappears outside the Oracle stack. Oracle's product page also gives no seat counts, implementation times or plan tiers.
You should leave if you don't run Oracle Fusion Applications, if you are a small or mid-size team that needs a lighter desk, or if you want to compare prices before talking to sales. Customers still on the older product should ask Oracle for a migration plan and timeline before deciding. You should stay if you already run Oracle Fusion Applications and want customer service, field service and an internal help desk in one data model — for those organizations, that is still the rational call.
What to consider
- Best broad enterprise desk → Zendesk. Mature omnichannel, a strong knowledge base, AI agents, and an app ecosystem. Enterprise plans are priced for scale.
- Best if you run on Salesforce → Salesforce Service Cloud. If sales already lives in Salesforce, Service Cloud puts support on the same platform and data model, with Einstein AI and deep customization. The like-for-like enterprise option when you want one CRM spine outside Oracle.
- Best lighter enterprise option → Freshdesk. Enterprise-grade omnichannel, Freddy AI, and solid reporting on a lighter platform. The pick when you want enterprise capability without committing to a suite.
- Best for social and digital-first CX → Sprinklr Service. If a large share of your volume is social, messaging, and digital channels, Sprinklr's unified customer experience platform adds serious listening and AI.
- Best for IT and enterprise service management → ServiceNow. If what you actually need is ITSM, employee service, and workflow orchestration across departments — not just customer contact — ServiceNow is the enterprise workflow standard.
- Best for a leaner, integrated stack → Zoho Desk. For enterprises willing to standardize on Zoho, Desk delivers omnichannel support, AI (Zia), and tight CRM integration. The pick when you aren't on Oracle Fusion Applications and don't need a suite.
Match the alternative to the gap
Name why Oracle isn't working for you. If it's fit outside the Oracle stack or the lack of public pricing, Zendesk and Freshdesk are the broad omnichannel answers. If your center of gravity is another platform, follow it — Salesforce Service Cloud if sales is on Salesforce, ServiceNow if the real work is cross-department service management. If your volume has shifted to social and messaging, Sprinklr Service is built for exactly that. And if the goal is a leaner stack, Zoho Desk gives you omnichannel support, AI and CRM integration without the Oracle dependency.
Trial advice
Migrating off Oracle Fusion Service is a program, not a swap — knowledge bases, routing rules, and integrations all have to move. Shortlist two platforms and run a scoped pilot with real ticket volume and your actual channels before committing. Pay closest attention to total cost of ownership and implementation timeline, and get both in writing: Oracle gives neither publicly, so ask every vendor on your list for a written quote with implementation scope.
